A nice steady growth of power over this book. An added player. More on what is really going on. Overall, a strong addition to the series. I like that we are seeing more of the corruption that is all around Max. Old friends show back up and deadly beasts try to devour everyone and everything. Max has just enough luck to keep him alive as he falls into situation after situation that should get him killed. Love the characters and world building. On to book 4.
