Book 1 of the Iron Tyrant series. The beginning of a series of a card based magic system. Albeit I can see where people compare this to Yu-Gi-Oh this is not a card deck system and in fact is not too different than several other books that utilize a catalyst to give access to the advancing system. There is also a factor of cultivation tied to it. I liked the fact that he has the lowest starting point and has to scrap to make his way up. The starting point also includes him starting as a slave. This has all of the basic elements that successful series has, I’m interested to see how this one progresses.
