This is book 2 in Beyonders. There is a lot I like about this series. It is the genera of Epic Fantasy I struggle with. I always have to keep in mind that book 2 is the builder and you just have to push through it. The story isn’t bad but the middle drags just a little and in no one spot. Just feels like lots of lulls in the action. I can only enjoy a finite amount of travel even with the encounters and other dangers. I am sure book 3 will more than make up for it. But it was a little bit of a trudge. That said, I loved his take on zombies.
