  • The Austere Academy

Book 5 of The Series of Unfortunate Events. This was a fun boarding school focused novel. Nothing has changed in the story line, everything things are looking up, suddenly they get bad. This was fun and fast paced. The series still maintains a strong recommend.

  • Golem and Jinni

This book was very different than what I imagined it to be. This book is more of a drama that a fantasy story. That said it is an intriguing story and keeps you engaged in the story. I do like how it is three stories that blend into one. Overall it is a recommend for…

  • The Weakness

Book 37 of Animorphs. This was a fun what ID novel if Jake was not there to lead. Super action packed with all out attack and little down time. Definitely one of those get through by the skin of your teeth stories. More than one of these would be unbelievable, but this ended up as…

  • The Miserable Mill

Book 4 of A Series of Unfortunate Events. This was another fun read. Albeit no mention of child labor laws. Still the orphans breeding foisted on yet another relative who could not care less about them. This one is a tad more gory than previous ones yet still only about as sever as a Goosebumps…

  • The Wide Window

Book 3 of A Series Of Unfortunate Events. The orphans are shipped off to yet another guardian and Count Olaf has yet another scheme. Super fun twists and turns, but as the series states, another dark sad ending for the orphans. I do recommend this series for young readers.

  • The Tipping Point

You know I am going to love it if Malcolm Gladwell wrote it. This book is no exception. I loved the look at how the market moves and feel it to be pretty accurate in my own life. I know I am constantly looking to experts on what is the best product. The question now…

  • A Song of Ice and Fire

Book 1 of Game of Thrones. To start with. The book is well written with strong character voices and an in-depth plot structure. This book is for mature audiences and I would recommend that due to numerous adult themes. All that said I just did not enjoy this one. I am not huge of castle…

  • The Reptile Room

Book 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events. A fun novel allowing the children to have a moment of happiness before it all becomes bleak again. Going through this series again I am pleased to still enjoy the clever bits it has. I love the fact that they are never automatically believed, seems a lot…

  • Noble Roots

Book 5 of Spells, Swords, and Stealth. This was a good read. On Parker with the rest of the series. It feels strange to keep the secondary story alive as it feels to bare bones to fit in with the majority of the story. When the two stories come together I am sure it will…

  • James and the Giant Peach

A fun novel by a well respected author. It is no surprise to say this is a classic and no surprise it was made into a movie. This is a kid pleaser and I would highly recommend it for even reluctant readers. A fun adventure and great companions.
