The Mystery on Stage
Book 43 of the Boxcar Children. This was a good example of how a mystery does not have to be flashy to be good. This book is in someways a nod to Phantom of the Opera. Someone is trying to ruin play and the Alden children are on the case. This was a good mystery,…

The Mystery of the Missing Cat
Book 42 of the Boxcar Children series. This was a good mystery, but not a great one. Very basic and straightforward. That doesn’t mean that it was bad, just not as twisting and turning as others. Still a minor red herring and a tad misdirection. Not in my top 10 for the series but still…

Domestication
Book 1 of Battle Mage farmer. This was a fantastic RPGLit book. Kept me engaged right to the end and excited to read the next book. My favorite part is it is one that I feel I can recommend to others. This is proof you can have great writing without all the curse words. Highly…

No Excuses! The Power of Self Discipline
This was an excellent book for those looking to improve their lives. I loved the under tone of hard work. I also loved the ideas around being upbeat. I took several notes and have ideas that I want to change. If you’re in a sales role this is a must read. If you want to…

Mystery of the Hidden Beach
Book 41 of the Boxcar Children. This was a fantastic mystery. Definitely kept you guessing with lots of strange goings on. I loved the red herring in this one. Completely pulled the suspicion off of the bad guy. This is in that top 10 for the series for sure. Recommended.

Ballad and Dagger
This was an interesting YA read with a South America twist. Yeah I know it happens on Brooklyn. Overall it is a different take on magic and myth. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters were relatable. The ending was very supernatural and felt like it stood out against the balance of the story. I…

Charlotte’s Web
I have not read this book since I was a child but it is still as heart-touching as it ever was. This book is a classic for a very good reason EB White has a wonderful way of bringing the farmyard alive. Each character leaps off the page. Highly recommend a read for any youngsters.…

Idea
Although I enjoyed a previous series, this book felt like it was trying to be too many things. I would have liked to have seen this “idea” broken out into three books and gone much deeper into each of the parts. I liked the book ok, but would just call it sci-if at this point…

The Canoe Trip Mystery
Book 40 of the Boxcar Children. One step forward and two back sometimes. This felt less complex than the last book I loved a good red herring and thus lacked it vs the last book. Overall the book was well paced and the mystery was solved. Just as a whole felt lies complex.

The Ghost Ship Mystery
Book 39 of the Boxcar Children. This was a fun little adventure as most are. This was the first real use of a red herring I have seen in the series. Perhaps it will turn into something later in the series, which was hinted at. Either way it was masterfully done.
