Book 1 of the Redwall series. This was not my first reading of Redwall and even in a second reading it is a delightful start to a memorable series. This is a classic adventure story fraught with horrible villains daring escapes and a beautiful demonstration of the hero’s journey. I love that it is more realistic where in war people are injured and die and even the old and frail do not escape. Tactics, adventure, and a spot of romance really appeals to all. Enjoy this adventure story of a young monk mouse looking to fulfill his destiny and save his home.
